Sports Therapy & Rehabilitation
What is sports therapy?
Sports therapy is a specialized branch of healthcare dedicated to the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries. It emphasizes injury prevention, effective rehabilitation, and performance optimization for athletes and active individuals of all levels. By blending key principles from physiotherapy, exercise science, and strength & conditioning, sports therapy aims to restore function, reduce pain, and enhance overall movement and athletic performance following injury.
What is sports rehabilitation?
Sports rehabilitation is one of our specialties here at MVP Chiropractic. We apply injury assessment and diagnosis to help facilitate our care plans. Strains, sprains, tendinitis, and overuse conditions are commonly seen in our practice. We use personalized treatment plans to get you back in the game. These treatment plans include joint mobilization, myofascial release, stretches, and exercises. Joint mobilization helps improve our range of motion and reduce stiffness. Mobilizing a joint helps calm down irritated tissues and facilitates normal movement. Myofascial release helps increase blood flow, decrease muscle tension, and improve overall function in a muscle or joint. We use IASTM (instrument assisted soft-tissue mobilization), cupping therapy, and trigger point therapy. Our stretches will help loosen tight muscles and improve flexibility. After the tissues have been calmed down and the muscle tightness released, we begin to introduce exercises that will help strengthen and support the joint capsule and surrounding muscles.
