• Our spine consists of vertebrae, separated by flexible cushions called discs - consisting of a soft inner part called the nucleus and a tough outer part called the annulus. When one of these discs bulge, there is inflammation that presses against your nerves, causing pain that may radiate into your arms or legs. Stiffness and muscle guarding is usually correlated.

  • Repetitive bending, twisting, or prolonged bending or stooping often causes disc derangement. Also having any prior injury to your neck or back predisposes you to having repeated occurrences. When a disc bulges, it is like toothpaste being squeezed out of the tube.

  • Chiropractic care can help strengthen and restore proper body biomechanics of the spine. Extension based exercises (such as McKenzie protocol) can often help alleviate symptoms. Additionally, our chiropractors may recommend traction or spinal decompression to assist in your treatment.
