Gluteal Tendinitis

  • Gluteal tendinitis is when one or more of the tendons on the outside of your hip becomes irritated, leading to hip, buttock, and upper thigh discomfort, especially at night.

  • Gluteal tendinitis can be caused by overuse, gluteal muscle weakness, age-related degeneration, improper footwear, and previous hip or lower back injuries.

  • To help manage gluteal tendinitis, you may need to temporarily limit activities that could worsen the condition, such as running or climbing hills. Low-stress alternatives include cycling or water-based exercises. try to land softly on the front of your heels when you walk and take shorter, quicker steps to avoid over-striding.
