Plantar Fasciitis

  • Plantar fasciitis is a painful irritation of the fibrous band running from the undersurface of your heel to the ball of your foot. Symptoms include heel or arch pain when standing up after inactivity, particularly in the morning.

  • Plantar fasciitis is often caused by overstretching and mild tearing due to fallen arches of the foot, compounded by sports, prolonged standing, or excessive weight.

  • Plantar fasciitis can be treated with myofascial release of muscle adhesions along the bottom of the foot as well as having one of our providers analyze the arch of your foot. One of the most important things you can do is consistently wear shoes with good arch supports and avoid high heels or going barefoot. Runners may need to temporarily decrease mileage or switch to less stressful activities like swimming, cycling, or using an elliptical machine.
