Sciatica

Lumbar radiculopathy symptoms can range from a dull ache to severe, constant shooting pain and may be worse with certain positions or movements. Be sure to tell your provider immediately if you experience any progression of pain, numbness, or weakness in your groin or legs.

Lumbar radiculopathy is a condition in which one or more of the nerves coming out of your lower back has become irritated or pinched, causing pain, numbness, or tingling in the specific area of the leg supplied by the irritated nerve. This is often called sciatica because it affects the sciatic nerve, which supplies the back and outside of your thigh and calf. Sometimes the root cause is coming from a muscle in the back of your leg where the impingement is rather than your lower back. Our providers are specialized to help find your root cause.

Fortunately, chiropractic care is generally effective and lowers the likelihood of needing surgery. To treat lumbar radiculopathy, it is essential to address the source of the nerve irritation and follow your treatment plan and home exercises closely.
