Chiropractic Adjustments
What does a chiropractic adjustment do?
A chiropractic adjustment involves a gentle, specific force applied to a joint (typically in the spine) that reduces pain and stiffness and enhances movement and neurological function. Dr. Brandon Bird and Dr. Kaleb Vig are the chiropractors at MVP Chiropractic in Omaha, NE that offer a variety of adjusting styles and techniques. The adjusting styles are hands-on and use HVLA (high velocity-low amplitude). The adjustment helps relieve pain and improve overall motion in our spine. Our chiropractors not only adjust the spine but also the shoulder, elbow, ankle, knee, hip, and wrist. We use controlled force that usually results in a “pop” sound, similar to the sound you hear when you pop your knuckles. This is totally normal and usually results in release of tension and a feeling of relief.
The “V” in MVP stands for Vitality and we know that chiropractic adjustments have a positive neurologic effect on the body. This allows our bodies to function at their best and allow a better overall quality of life. Whether you feel stiffness, pain, or reduced range of motion, a spinal adjustment could greatly improve your overall function and reduce your pain almost immediately. Pain is an indication to our body that something is wrong. Consistent chiropractic adjustments can help relieve recurring pain and prevent future flare ups as well.
Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?
Most people feel relief, not pain after a chiropractic adjustment. When a joint moves you often hear a “pop” sound like the sound your knuckles make. This is a good thing! Our joints don’t always have to cavitate to indicate successful movement, but it often results in pain relief when it does happen. Our chiropractors have over 20 years of experience and can help you decide if chiropractic is a tool that can help you feel your best and get out pain.
Who should see a chiropractor?

Neck pain (from driving, work, studying, etc.)

Stiffness

How often do I need to come back?
Each treatment plan is unique to YOU the patient. While we love seeing our patients, our ultimate goal is to only see you when you need us! Many of our treatment plans are based on if the condition presents as “acute” or “chronic”. An acute treatment plan usually consists of 4-8 visits over the course of 2-4 weeks, whereas a chronic treatment plan may require 2-3 visits per week over the course of 4-8 weeks. While these are more general guidelines than definitive plans, we highly recommend contacting our office and getting scheduled with one of our chiropractors, Dr. Brandon Bird or Dr. Kaleb Vig. After a thorough examination, we will set up a plan that works the best for you and gets you back to living your best life!
Our ultimate goal is to get you out of pain and allow you to do the things you love. We have many patients that only see us when they need to and even more that continue to get adjusted weekly or monthly to keep their bodies feeling their best and prevent future flareups. The choice is always up to you!
